“A soulmate is someone who has locks that fit our keys, and keys to fit our locks. When we feel safe enough to open the locks, our truest selves step out and we can be completely and honestly who we are; we can be loved for who we are and not for who we’re pretending to be. Each unveils the best part of the other. No matter what else goes wrong around us, with that one person we’re safe in our own paradise.” -richard bach
Gary and Anita flew over from the UK to visit family and…get married, with just a couple friends and Gary’s brother and his family (my cousins). It was beautiful, with local flowers, candles, and in this rad joint, Motovida in Kelowna. They read letters from their children back in the UK. Loved ones spoke quotes, songs, and words so dear to them both. Champagne after. And after that: they shared cigarettes by the Cadillac, just the two of them, best friends, laughing and talking as if they hadn’t just gotten married and it was just a regular weekday evening. I cried.
